Cabernet Franc has a special name in the Villány Wine Region = Villány Franc.

Perhaps it first came to our notice when Michael Broadbent visited in 2000 and tasted the cabernet francs of József Bock (www.bock.hu), Ede Tiffán (http://www.tiffans.hu/) and our own winery (, and then published his tasting notes in the English magazine Decanter, stating he thought that ”cabernet franc has found its
natural home in Villány,” said Attila Gere(http://www.gere.hu/).

The first full origin protection system of Hungary was developed out in the Villány Wine Region. The strongest attraction of the region is wine. The treasures of the region include the protected streets of cellars in Palkonya, Villánykövesd, Villány, Nagyharsány and Kisharsány, the cellars and press houses scattered around in the vineyards of Siklós; hundreds of years ago they were important for their technology, now they are important destinations of the tourist industry.

Traditions include the presence of Kadarka, Portugieser, or Schiller wines. The new tradition of Villány Wine Region is VILLÁNY FRANC.
